About Us

The Moraga Lions Club is one of 46000 clubs located in over 200 countries worldwide. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members.

Lions are men, women and students who not only care about their community, but communities world wide. Our primary mission is to assist the visually impaired. In 2014, Lions assisted the staff for the Center for the Blind to conduct 2 Free Eye Testing events for Seniors at the Chateau and another Senior Community in Lafayette.   Some low income Seniors also qualified to obtain free eye glasses.  Our club is also part of the collection and recycling of eye glasses which are cleaned and recycled to needy people in developing countries.  If you have old prescription glasses or frames to donate, we can make use of them and you can be recycling to the needy!

Each year the International President suggests a new community activity. Last year Lions world wide planted 6 milion trees. We planted 32 in Moraga. This year we have been asked to develop programs to improve literacy in our communities.

Our club presently has 17 members and we sponsor a very active Leo Club (Campolindo High School Students) which annually consists of 75 highly dedicated  members. We conduct or assist others in fund raisers like :

Our Annual Crab Feed which provides the Lion's Share

The Fireman's Breakfast that supports the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training program and other first responders

Annual Moraga Golf Tournament

Special Kids Day which is held in Antioch and

We have a scholorship Committee that funded $12,000  in scholarships to Seniors from Campolindo graduating in June 2014. Lions throughout the state of California sponsor an annual speech contest which is supported through the high schools.  This year's topic is appropriate as "Water Conservation - What Can We Do To Conserve, Recycle & Reclaim?" This years awards will include 15 - $4500 District Awards, a $6500 scholarship for Area Winners and $10,500 awarded to the State Winner!  Miramonte High School teacher, has been the Coach who has helped our District send a winning representative to the State Finals Competitions for the last 3 years consecutively, annually donating $20,000 to the Center For The Blind in 2014.
